The Olds 442 was issued in the usual array of Hot Wheels colors, but those with the combo of a red exterior and black interior are anomalies, believed by many collectors to be pre-production pieces. Some authorities claim that fewer than 15 examples exist today.

1970 Red Ferrari 312P (Pink with clear windows)

Ferrari 312P was introduced in the 1970 Hot Wheels line-up. Ferrari built a 3000cc prototype in 1969, the 312 P. This was a prototype car that did not seem to last long in the open cockpit design.

Based on the 1970 Oldsmobile 442, Larry Wood's Olds 442 Hot Wheels casting made its debut in the 1971 Hot Wheels vehicle line. Among all the cars from the Redline era (1968–1977), it is without a doubt the rarest casting overall. Even very worn-out cars have some value because it is so much sought for.
